Ms Magdalena Ślachetka, MSc, this year graduate of our Faculty and a former Master’s degree student of prof. UAM dr hab. Marlena Lembicz from the Department of Plant Taxonomy, received a STMS (Short Term Scientific Mission) grant – three-month stay and research in the James Hutton Institute in Scotland. STMS grants for young scientists are one of ways the COST Action FA1405 – “Using three-way interactions between plants, microbes and arthropods to enhance crop protection and production” ( http://www.cost-fa1405.eu/) supports the cooperation network among involved countries. The project of Magdalena will initiate such a cooperation between the teams of dr Alisson Karley and dr hab. Marlena Lembicz. This project will bring new information on the effects of endophytic fungi on cereal productivity, the possibility of using these fungi to control cereal biology and their influence on cereal pests (aphids) in Great Britain.
