On December 21, 2021, the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) selected the winners of the recruitment to the 4th edition of the Bekker NAWA Program. As part of this flagship NAWA program, during their stays – lasting from 3 to 24 months – scholarship holders will be able to carry out scientific projects or postdoctoral internships together with foreign scientists and develop international cooperation. In this year’s edition of the competition, 176 winners were selected from among 507 candidates. One of the winners of this year’s competition was Michał Brzozowski, PhD student at the Institute of Environmental Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, who applied for an outgoing scholarship in the research group of dr hab. Sabine Hilt at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Berlin, where from March 2022, for a period of 8 months, he will participate in the implementation of the project entitled “Lower periphyton biomass following fish removal facilitates the restoration of charophytes in oligo- and mesotrophic temperate hard-water lakes.” The doctoral student’s application was appreciated by the reviewers and obtained a very high score of 96.5 points out of 100 points possible.
